原因是這樣的,去年一位熟識的是攝影師,送修這顆鏡頭Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S
裝上機身一開機,就出現ERR,無法驅動鏡頭,根本不能使用
有趣的是,在我收件後,檢查的期間,這顆鏡頭有幾次裝上機身,是可以正常驅動的
An acquainted photographer sent this Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S lens to the Nikon Repairing Center (NRC) in Taiwan seeking for restoration assistance last year.
The error "ERR" appears on startup, making it impossible to operate the camera therefore cannot be used at all.
During inspection, there are few times the lens can work normally after mounted on the camera body.
當下我跟好友借了一顆同樣的Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S比對,發現細微的差異來至電子光圈的驅動
ERR的鏡頭很明顯,裝上機身後光圈驅動縮放無反應,所以當下我判斷是電子光圈的故障
於是申請的電子光圈更換。
At that time, I borrowed a Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S lens from a friend for comparison and discovered the slight difference stems from the electronic aperture unit drive.
The lens with ERR was obvious; once mounted on the camera body, the aperture drive had no response. Therefore, I determined it was a fault in the electronic aperture and applied for a replacement part.
等待的期間,我仔細地觀察著Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S內的結構,品味的NIKON工藝的技術
我發現,從內的設計上面,我嗅到了’消失的NIKON味道’~~沒錯,以往的NIKON工藝有著重大的改變,是好是壞,我無法評論,但是…..就是….感覺到消失的NIKON工藝,取而代之的是新科技味道
While waiting for the arrival of replacement part, I carefully observed the internal structure of Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S.
首先:
1.主板統一設計在鏡尾
以往Canon、SONY、SIGMA、TAMRON都是這樣的設計
只有NIKON會設計在鏡身的周圍,幾乎不會統一將主板放在鏡尾
好處是:整齊的收納所有排線連接到此處,有效的避免撞擊造成主板損壞
缺點是:排線都要走很長……一直走到鏡尾連接,真的很長
First of all:
The motherboard is designed at the rear of the lens.
Canon, SONY, SIGMA, and TAMRON have all been designing cameras this way, while only NIKON tends to place the motherboard around the body of the lens, rarely unifying it at the rear.
Advantages: This design neatly organizes all flexible flat cables (shortened as FFC) to connect at this point, effectively preventing impact damage to the motherboard
Disadvantages: FFCs are designed very long. I must say, they are REALLY long, since it extends all the way to the rear for connection.
2.變焦感應裝置的改變
每一個裝置都由一個電子零件進行感應,包含變焦也是
好處變焦感應很靈敏
The change in the zoom sensor:
Each device, including the zoom sensor, is controlled by an electronic component.
Advantage: The zoom sensor has a very high sensitivity.
以前的鏡頭,變焦只是簡單的電刷,如下圖
如此簡單的設計,好處就是不會壞!
In previous lenses, the zoom function was controlled by a simple ZOOM ENCODER BRUSH, as shown in the image.
The advantage of such a simple design is that it never breaks!
3.對焦感應也是…..都是電子零件
所以現在嘗試轉動”手動對焦”,您會發現一點點的延遲現象
因為電子零件感應到您轉動對焦,驅動馬達朝你轉動的方向前進,還要判斷您轉多少,多快,如此一來一往,您發現的手動轉對焦的延遲現象就變得明顯了!
不只如此,以往的G系列鏡頭,如果發生意外,馬達忽然故障,怎麼辦?
資深的攝影師多多少少都會遇到,以前我當攝影師的時候也遇到過一次!只能硬著頭皮,超帥的在那邊手動對焦,千萬不要問哥在做什麼?
你不會懂得,懂得,你都會想哭,因為馬達掛了~~~你要我怎麼辦?只能手動對焦拍照阿,真的不是要甩帥!
現在開始只要使用Z系列的攝影師,你再也沒有”甩帥”的機會了,掛了,就是掛了,根本無法驅動鏡頭,手動對焦也不行,就…..死在原地,攤死的那種。
所以……沒事口袋裡面放一顆餅乾鏡,不是吃餅乾,是攤死的時候,口袋還有鏡頭,緊急換上去拍照,要不然怎麼辦?
以下是意圖,並非對焦感應,但是裝置是一樣的
The focus sensor is also an electronic component. And…they are all electronic components.
Therefore, when you try to rotate the "manual focus" ring, you may notice there’s a bit delay.
This happens because the electronic component senses your focus adjustments and drives the motor in the direction you turned while also required to gauge how much and how fast you turned it. This back-and-forth process makes the manual focus delay more noticeable.
If the motor in a G-series lens suddenly failed in the past, what could we do to handle this challenge? Seasoned photographers might have the experience of encountering this kind of situation more than once, including myself met this once when I was still actively shooting! In such cases, the only thing we can do is to bite the bullet, manual focus with flair on-site!
However, photographers using Z-series lenses no longer have the chance for such a stylish manual focus recovery move. If the motor fails, it’s completely unusable, even manual focus won't work. Thus, carrying a small spare lens in your pocket is crucial for emergencies so that you can quickly switch and continue shooting if a failure occurs.
(Note: The following refers to the intention rather than the focus sensor itself, but the device is similar.)
4.電子光圈是趨勢
傳統的機械光圈,好處當然就是不會壞,但是真的光圈值差異,每一顆鏡頭,都還有點不同,進光亮的準確度不足
電子光圈很明確的改善這個問題,加上錄影時,一邊變焦還要一邊控制光圈的進光亮,機械光圈難以精準的控制,所以電子光圈變成一條一定要走的路
只是好多的電子零件,真的增加了鏡頭故障的風險
The electronic aperture device is a trend, and it's something that needs to be replaced.
Traditional mechanical apertures have the advantage of being less prone to failure. However, there can be slight difference in the actual aperture values among different lenses, leading to minor differences in the accuracy of light transmission.
The birth of electronic apertures have significantly addressed this issue. Especially when recording video, where adjusting zoom and controlling aperture simultaneously is necessary, mechanical apertures struggle to provide precise control. Hence, electronic apertures have become the only viable option. However, the downside is that the increased number in electronic components also increases the risk of malfunctions.
5.最後的步進馬達,整顆鏡頭的核心動力
很多人都覺得Z系列的鏡頭,對焦好快喲!其實這裡面的秘密,早在幾年前SONY發表的鏡頭裡面有提到:
步進馬達其實跑焦速度不快,不….應該說是很慢
為了改善這個問題,所有的鏡頭廠商都改變設計,使用兩顆步進馬達,兩片對焦鏡片縮短對焦的行程,以達到對焦速度的提升
The stepper motor, the final component and the core power behind the entire lens. Many people have noticed that Z-series lenses focus very fast. The secret lies in a technique that Sony introduced several years ago with their lenses:
Stepper motors, in fact, don't focus very quickly. Honestly to say, they are quite slow. To address this issue, lens manufacturers have redesigned their systems. They now use two stepper motors, each moving one of the two focusing lens elements, which reduces the focusing distance and improves autofocus speed.
要不然Nikon真正最快的馬達,是用在AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR的那顆超音波馬達,那顆馬達可以說是鏡頭界的米格-25(Foxbat),至今沒有一顆馬達速度超過他

為了找到這顆鏡頭的故障的原因,買了一顆全新的進行交叉比對,為了就是好好地修理完成他
So, in the heat of the moment, I decided to buy a brand new Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S right away.
That's why, as I mentioned at the beginning of the article, this piece of writing is worth 58,900 Taiwanese dollars, approximately 1,800 USD.
I purchased a new one to cross-reference and pinpoint the issue with this lens, all in the pursuit of properly repairing it.
最後我當然是完成了維修,為了不辜負攝友對我的期望
每一次的困難,每一款新的設計,背後都是我辛苦的血和錢堆起來的!

我前前後後修理了好多顆Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S,這裡還有一顆香港攝友送過來NRC修理的鏡頭,撞擊相當嚴重
沒錯,就是大家最在意的,NIKON這次的Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S耐不耐撞!
我就直接說結論了,真的耐撞,完全改善了Nikon 24-70mm F2.8G的缺點
但….撞擊力道大到可以把鏡片撞裂,真的很大力,那就是不管什麼樣的設計,都不可能安然無恙的。
下圖的鏡片已經有裂痕,撞得很大力

I've repaired many Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S lenses over time, and here's one sent for repair from a Hong Kong photographer to NRC, with quite severe impact damage.
That’s right, it's the question everyone really cares about: Is Nikon's Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S durable enough??
Let me just go to the conclusion instead: It's truly durable, completely addressing the shortcomings of the Nikon 24-70mm F2.8G.
However... the impact force which can crack the lens is definitely an immense force. Regardless of the design, it's impossible to remain unscathed.
The lens in the image below already has cracks, indicating the significant impact the lens encountered.

The reason why this Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S can withstand impacts lies in its integrated main lens tube.
外層有著彈性而且不意變形碳纖維樹脂保護(詳細的材質有待確認)
The outer layer features resilient and non-deforming carbon fiber resin protection (the exact material details are yet to be confirmed)
不只如此,連同容易受撞擊變形的前變焦主筒,也是耐撞不意變形的材質,大大的增加鏡頭的耐衝擊。
那….不就是撞不壞嗎?
別鬧呢,怎麼可能,撞太大力也是一樣會破裂的,只是耐撞擊的程度變高了!

好了,最後消失的Nikon工藝換來的是什麼?
是科技最高工藝,一顆耐撞,成像優異,適合攝錄的鏡頭油然而生
雖然很有多的感應器,但是卻無法避免,因為錄影的雜音要消除,順暢的對焦斯滑感,必然要用步進馬達,使用了步進馬達,就必須要用手動感應驅動鏡頭,為了錄影變焦的精準度,就必須要用感應裝置,而捨棄傳統的機械裝置,一切的一切都只是為了更加精準,錄影的精準度而設計的。
如果您想,那Canon SONY會不會好一點? 恩~~~那就錯了,全部無反的相機鏡頭,都一樣,這是根本的設計必然要走的路。
如果您擔心工作的意外,當下故障無法使用,請準備兩顆Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S在您的包包中!
攝影師的價值,只有在意外發生的當下,才能區分職業與業餘的差異,責任就是我們職業攝影師的招牌,不容忽視。
最後如果你問我Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S到底有什麼設計是讓我感到不悅的,我會二話不說地提到….以下這條排線是?

Come on, how could it be? Even a strong impact would cause it to break, it's just more resistant to impacts now!
You no longer have to worry about it getting stuck with a gentle touch… what I want to imply is definitely Nikon 24-70mm F2.8G.
Alright, so what did the disappearance of Nikon craftsmanship bring in the end? What it brought forth is the highest technological craftsmanship, a lens that is durable, with excellent imaging, and suitable for recording.
Despite having numerous sensors, using a stepper motor is inevitable for the sake of eliminating the noise in the recording process, and the smooth focusing experience. And because of the use of stepper motor, manual focusing requires a sensor device to drive the lens. By abandoning traditional mechanical devices, we aim to achieve greater precision in recording accuracy through innovative design, which is our sole objective.
If you think Canon or Sony might be better, then you probably make a mistake. All lens in Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Cameras (MILC) are the same since this is the fundamental design they must take.
If you're concerned about any accident during work which leads to a sudden malfunction, making you unable to shoot, then make sure you have two Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S lenses ready in your bag! The value of a photographer lies in how they handle unforeseen circumstances. It's at those moments to tell the difference between amateur and professional. Responsibility is our hallmark as professional photographers, and it's something we can't overlook.
Finally, if you ask me what design feature of the Nikon 24-70mm F2.8S I find displeasing, I would point out... this confusing FFC without any hesitation.
麻煩來個人說明一下,左邊那條排線,對折凹成卍字,然後接上主板,是怎回事??
都設計這麼先進,就這條排線我始終不明白,為何這樣凹來凹去???

左邊的三條排線也很細,以往的Nikon排線都偏粗,耐用~~~現在的排線都很細,很像SONY耶~~~恩,我的確不喜歡的SONY細排線設計。
最後的最後,我私心的問一句話:
是不是回不去了?難道超音波馬達的年代真的回不去了嗎?
那種耐用鏡頭設計,一顆永流傳的鏡頭,真的要消失了嗎?
有沒有可能出兩個版本,步進馬達與超音波馬達的版本?
還是話說回來,市場已經捨棄了單反?
那無反再過5年…..難道不會被檢討?
我在這裡預言一下,單反與無反的交替,不會像底片與數位的差異,最終會出現雙叉路,只是時間的問題而已。

What about MILCs in five years... won't they be scrutinized?
Here's my prediction: the transition between DSLRs and MILCs won't be like the shift from film to digital. Eventually, there will be a divergence. It's just a matter of time.
